SiteSelect is an Image Guided/Stereotactic Excisional Breast Biopsy Device allowing physicians to obtain a "Definitive Diagnosis" at the time of initial biopsy upon the first abnormal/suspicious mammographic findings. This minimally invasive breast biopsy device is highly recommended for high risk lesions where a complete histology is necessary to effectively treat patients affected by the breast disease.
SiteSelect Stereotactic Table Compatibility
SiteSelect is designed to work with both Fischer and Hologic-Lorad Prone Stereotactic tables. Using SiteSelect requires the use of a "Driver Interface Kit" which will allow SiteSelect to be mounted and calibrated to a specific Stereotactic table. The interface kit is completely mechanical and noise free providing tactile feedback to the physicians performing the procedure. Utilizing the interface also eliminates any use of Electrocautery, RF Ablation, motors, and Vacuum Suctioning of the targeted tissue.
Brachytherapy and SiteSelect
As Brachytherapy procedures are gaining popularity, more physicians are opting to use the SiteSelect device for excising the breast lesions as well as creating a uniform cavity for the Brachytherapy probes/Balloons.
Localization Wire
The localization wire is a .011 inch wire that is placed into the proximal tissue of the lesion. This wire is used as a locator of the lesion and to anchor the sample as it is removed by the coring cannula. This wire hook is used to orient the lesion and to anchor the specimen as it is removed by the coring cannula.
Retractable Stylet Blade
The retractable stylet cutting blade, unique to SiteSelect, is used to slice through and separate the healthy breast tissue. The stylet does not remove healthy tissue. The blade is positioned proximal to the suspect tissue.
Coring Cannula
The coring cannula is used to cut around the sample to be taken. It is positioned proximal to the lesion and then moved forward by the rotating knobs on the driver. The cannula is moved forward until it is in the healthy tissue distal to the lesion. The cannula dictates the size of the device and is chosen depending on the sample size to be removed.
Visual Indicator
The visual indicator, which appears on the front side of the SiteSelect device, indicates the acceptable zone when the garrote wire can be deployed.
Garrote Triggers
The garrote triggers are on each side of the SiteSelect device. When pulled back, they activate the cutting garrote wire, which slices the tissue distal of the lesion. This enables the removal of a single intact artifact-free contiguous core of specimen.
Holder and Driver with Advancement Knobs
The holder and driver is the device that the SiteSelect product is attached to in order to perform the procedure. The driver must be mounted onto the stereotactic imaging table. The driver contains two large knobs on each side of the unit. These knobs (advancement knobs) are used to maneuver the SiteSelect device forward and backward. This is performed manually, which provides tactile feedback to the physician.
Needle Holder
The needle holder is the metal rack that attaches to the driver. The needle is placed onto the rack for support and control of the device when advancing.
Stop
The stop is a metal bar that is positioned at a specific distance, set by the stereotactic imaging table. The stop is attached and placed manually. It prevents the device from advancing to an undesirable distance.
